5 Utah Adventure Series: Touring the Fire Station with Uncle Tom
Having a firefighter as an uncle has got to be one of the coolest things ever for a kid - and for an adult, let's be honest here. :) After Uncle Tom showed off his fancy red truck to the kids, he asked if we'd be interested in going down to the station with him the following day. The answer was obvious - YES! Olivia and Will see fire trucks pass our apartment in LA almost every day, they have been fascinated by the lights, the sirens and of course the firemen they see hop out. This was an opportunity we didn't want to miss. We received the royal treatment - Uncle Tom, the station chief and firemen answered all of our questions, were so kind to the kids, let the kids (small AND big) sit in the truck and wear helmets and headsets; they turned on the truck's lights, and they even let Will push the button to close the garage when we were finished. Olivia was so fascinated with "driving" the fire truck that she did not want to get out, or ever leave for that matter. This whole experience was even neater for her because she knows her Uncle Jake (Lisa's husband) is going to be a fireman! She asked me if Uncle Jakes has a BIG truck like Uncle Tom, I told her not yet - but some day! Thank you thank you Uncle Tom and to all those at the fire station that made this evening possible for my family. It was amazing.
