Aaron, Lisa, Livi and I had planned all week to spend Saturday at the beach, but overnight the expected temps dropped from 82 to 65. Not amused. To make the best of a foggy, cool day we decided to go tide pooling! We opted for Leo Carrillo State Beach, it's relatively close and had great reviews for a kid friendly tide pool beach. We loved it! We parked along PCH, and it was a very short walk down to the water. Bathrooms were decent, and there were even showers. Low tides revealed TONS of little hermit crabs. The rocks literally came to life! Olivia seemed a little fascinated with stepping on the sea anemones, we tried to rescue as many as possible from her. We even found a starfish! Livi was quite apprehensive at first of all the little critters, but by the end, she was picking up little crabs on her own!

The drive home was even more incredible. Seriously. We were looking at the ocean, and suddenly saw the local pod of dolphins jumping out of the water. Then, we saw a blowhole! Yes, there was a
whale swimming with them! We quickly pulled over (along with everyone else), and watched the whale and dolphins in awe. This was one large grey whale, beautiful! He even waved hello! It was one of those moments where I was completely overwhelmed with the absolute beauty of God's creations.
It was one perfect afternoon. We are so blessed to live so close to the ocean.
