The Ericksons: Goodbyes and the Getty

It's hard to believe how quickly 2 weeks can go by!

We have had an awesome visit with Deb and the girls. We are blessed to live so close to both our families - no more than a day's drive to visit either. It's a whole new experience for us living out on our own and in a tourist hot spot! We have felt quite popular; we only wish we had a bigger place to house everyone since hotels can be so pricey. Perhaps one day, right? For now, we make room by taking down our dining room table and setting up air mattresses.

We spent our last day together chillin' at home, playing Settlers, window shopping along Montana, and eating pizza on the beach. Great day. Before the family made their drive back to Provo, we went to the Getty Center! We've heard such awesome reviews of the place, but hadn't made it up there to see for ourselves. Parking is a little steep ($14), but admission is free. The parking structure is quite impressive - 7 levels underground! After parking, you take a five minute tram ride up the hill to the Getty. We ate lunch in one of the gardens, and I felt like I was in a scene of Alice In Wonderland! It was stunning. Not to mention the exquisite views of the Santa Monica coastline. Aaron got called in to work, so we had to take off after lunch. We said our goodbyes and then Debbie, Lauren and Sarah stayed to tour the rest of the museum.

It was sweet to see how confused and sad Livi was when we pulled into our parking garage and she realized Grandma and her Aunties weren't following in their van. After many tears, she finally conked out for a nap. Thanks for a great visit Debbie, Lauren and Sarah! So happy we had this time, especially with Lauren who is going to Taiwan to teach English for 6 months (possibly 12). We'll sure miss her, and Livi will miss her Auntie "Wo wo". :)
