May 13, 2014 (First Haircut on Daddy's birthday!)
Both of my children have been blessed with lots of hair - and Will's long locks have given him a darling surfer boy look. But the time had come to lose the mullet and the trim back the hair out of his eyes. First birthdays have a way of reminding us that our babies are growing up. Given Will's thin, super straight hair though - I was not about to try cutting his hair myself. You would be able to see every single cut. So I took advantage of our visit to Livermore to have my trusted hair stylist Kristin do the honors.
It was an adventure to say the least.
It was a long process that involved a monster drape, sitting on Lala's lap, singing songs, juice boxes, sippy cups, having animal crackers shoved down my throat (literally), Woody, hair EVERYWHERE (on all of us, in the air, in our mouths, on our hands, you name it - it was covered in Will's hair), making weird and animal noises, shooting Will and him shooting us with his Buzz gun, pointing out every light in the salon, a mini lotion bottle, a sunscreen stick, peek-a-boo, and about 5 combs (he loves combs and combing his own hair, and mine I might add) to say the most. Just writing about it makes me tired!
Kristin did an amazing job with an overall happy but squirmy and in the end cranky boy. Moving targets and sharp pointed scissors are never a good match. We saved some of his long locks, and found that with his 2 cowlicks - both going in opposite directions - that shorter will probably be best for this little guy. And we also discovered that his hair has a natural fohawk as a result of those cowlicks. It's darling.
The Befores
The Durings
The After (with more to come...this little guy was just ready to go home)
