Father's Day at Dodger Stadium!

31 August 2012
Dodger Stadium

For Father's Day this year, we all pitched in an bought Dad tickets to see a Dodger game in Dodger Stadium. It's been years since he's been able to go to a game in LA! I must say, he looked happy all night long - except when the Dbacks scored a home run in the 11th inning to win the game of course. We were expecting traffic, but made amazing time; parking was just fine; finding our seats - well, we walked around the entire stadium to get to them - all paths are not created equally going to Dodger Stadium. We enjoyed some awesome grilled Dodger dogs and pop, perfect weather, and some amazing seats (Thanks Costco for the vouchers!). We even got there early enough to watch Matt Kemp warm up and even got him to sign Dad's hat!!! We had to ask a really nice man to go down for us since we didn't have baseline seats, but he was happy to oblige and we were thrilled! We wished we would have had a Sharpie as opposed to a ball point pen, but hey - we can't complain! The game was close, which made it exciting, as did the very drunk young fans behind us with colorful language! We really did have a great night - even Mom - the Giants fan - enjoyed the experience; it would have been better had we been at PacBell Park rootin on the Giants of course. She wore her Giants hoodie just to make her allegiance clear. Considering her Giants are ahead of the Dodgers by a significant margin, she doesn't have much to worry about. :)
Every Friday evening, the Dodgers put on a fireworks show and fans are invited to watch them from the field! Dad had never been on the field, so I was super excited for him. However, because the game went late, they kept the field closed so the show could start sooner. Ugh. Typical. But even from our seats, the fireworks were awesome. Following the game, it took us forever to find our car - we got a little turned around leaving the stadium; looking on the positive side, by the time we did find it, most of the traffic had cleared. Considering that Mom, Dad and Jordan had driven down from Livermore right before the game, it didn't take long for everyone to crash!

Crazy how much they look alike in this photo.
Yep, I'm sportin' Dodger blue! I have been and still am a Giants fan - and as an oxymoron as it may seem - I support both teams. Let's just remember, I'm not an avid baseball fan - I love going to games and love supporting my home town teams.

Jordan's first Dodger dog!
This has got to be one of my favorite photos of my Dad ever. He looks young, happy, and man - gotta love those dimples!

You've already seen his "eating" face - here's the "drinking" one.  :)
